Phonograms

Phonograms is a tool to help you practice Spalding Phonograms with your children. This is NOT a tool to help you learn or get started with phonograms. To use this tool effectively, you must at least know how Spalding phonograms work, and know all the phonogram sounds. To get started in phonograms, I suggest you purchase a Spalding Sounds DVD & 1-70 phonogram flash cards.

Once you are familiar or experienced with how phonograms work, you can use this app to practice with your children. It's no different than showing them the Spalding flash cards, you will be using a phone, or a tablet instead.

NOTE: This app does not play the phonogram sounds, that's why it's important that you get the Spalding Sounds DVD first, otherwise you will have no idea how a phonogram should sound.

Features

• Works with all Android phones that have at least 320x480 resolution.
• Works with 7" and 10" Android tablets. In fact, using a tablet as a teaching/practicing tool is more convenient/fun than a phone.
  
• Practice with phonograms 1-26 for beginners, and later 27 to 70 for intermediate students, or 1 to 70 for regular practice.
• Ability to randomize the phonograms during practice.
• Shows sample/sound just like in the original Spalding flash cards.
  

Usage

Start the app, choose which phonogram group you want to practice with your child (1-26, 27-70 or everything), optionally, you can randomize the phonograms. When a phonogram appears on the screen, ask your child to sound it out. You can optionally tap on the phonogram itself to bring up the sounding sample. After the child sound out the phonogram, press the 'Next' button, or use your finger and swipe the screen from left to right to move on to the next phonogram. Repeat this procedure until all phonograms have been sounded by the child. It is recommended that you practice with your child once everyday.
